Some health risks have been associated with tap water for quite some time and drinking from the tap has certainly become less fashionable over the last few decades. However the price of bottled water and the concern over its impact on the environment, have driven some people back to the tap. There is an increased awareness among the public now about environmental issues and the main concern with bottled water is the packaging and its disposal.

Tap water is generally safe to drink for most people, however the quality of drinking water can vary a lot depending on where you live since there are different sources of water used by various water suppliers around the country. Tap water can also be filtered at home and these filter products are growing in popularity. Bottled water remains the most common choice for most of us, but there is another option for those who want bottled water quality without the packaging – water coolers. Water coolers can be installed at home or at work, where they are commonplace, and this may be the answer to those who prefer the taste of mineral water or bottled water, rather than tap water.
